Touchatou, crèche and nursery school in Casablanca

For almost twenty years, the Touchatou school has been welcoming children from nursery to kindergarten. The school is located near Léon l’Africain, Al Jabr and Molière, and has a capacity of 240 children (in compliance with the current instructions and measures related to the Coronavirus).

A child-centred pedagogy

At the time of its creation, the school was one of the very first to implement the tools of the Montessori method, an environment conducive to a positive education and respectful of the child’s development, a team trained to accompany the children and to develop their qualities and potential without locking them into a framework, in short, to give priority to the acquisition of abilities over the acquisition of skills – while, of course, giving them the necessary knowledge to be able to continue their schooling in secondary school without any difficulty!

A crèche

Touchatou welcomes toddlers from the age of three months, in a pleasant crèche where everything has been designed for comfort, stimulation and safety. The staff dedicated to the crèche includes a nurse and three nursery nurses who have been trained by Touchatou to apply the school’s methods. Priority is given to sensory development and the first psycho-motor acquisitions, and the space offers many games. And at nap time, each child has an individual bed!

A nursery school

The nursery school is only a few metres away.

The children are divided into four different sections, depending on their age and level of achievement.  Each class is limited to 24 children, with spaces adapted to their size, of course. These spaces also allow the school’s pedagogy to be applied, with, for example, different tables corresponding to the different stages of mastery of an activity (discovering under the direction of the leader, doing with the assistance of a monitor, or doing independently).

At the end of kindergarten, the children have the necessary knowledge to enter primary school: they have learned to read, write and count. They have also acquired important life skills for living in a group and for their future autonomy.

Children can join neighbouring schools or OSUI-AEFE schools. For the latter, they are not exempt from the entrance exam, but the success rate is over 99%!

The various activities and outings throughout the year have also given them a cultural awareness that allows them to feel at ease when they arrive at the school.
