Don’t stop at the slightly kitschy façade of the street entrance, whose blue-tinted, semi-open, faux-Greek hypostyle is slightly surprising on Boulevard Mohamed VI. After this first, slightly surprising, vision, we take a lift which takes us to the 5th floor of the building, and which allows us to access a restaurant room with a superb panoramic view which fully justifies the name of the restaurant: “La Bellevue“.
The decoration is warm, thanks to the wooden furniture and the parquet floor completed by exposed stone walls. It is far from the traditional Moroccan style, and this suits this restaurant very well, which serves above all a gastronomic cuisine, essentially based on fish and seafood (with one or two meat dishes on the menu, for the die-hard carnivores). Like any good chef, Abdelkarim Saoudi uses local products, and Moroccan spices are widely used. However, he does not limit himself to traditional flavours, and explores all possibilities.
Despite the quality of the service and the view – superb, I repeat – the bill remains reasonable. The menu allows you to eat for about 300 dirhams, and a menu is offered for 180 dirhams.
Of course, as everywhere in Morocco, you have to add the price of drinks, and if you wash your meal down with a good wine, you can easily add another 100 to 200 dirhams.
