Have you heard of Biscoff? It’s a speculoos-style biscuit, which is delicious when dipped in coffee.
Personally, I eat loads of them. At four biscuits with my after-lunch coffee, the packet doesn’t last me very long.
And I’ve made a discovery!
On the left, a 125-gram packet of Biscoff biscuits (16 biscuits). In the centre and on the right, another packet of Biscoff biscuits, also 125 grams. The same number of biscuits.
There is a subtle difference. The price.
On my left, the packet sold by BIM, 15.95 dirhams. In the centre, the packet sold by Marjane, 21.60 dirhams. That’s 35 per cent more expensive.
And on my right, at Carrefour, 27.25 dirhams. That’s 70 per cent more expensive.
In France, it sells for around €0.90, or 9 dirhams… the cost of importing it!
