Loppsi, kindergarten and Finnish nursery school in Casablanca

A new nursery school has just opened in Casablanca, in the Velodrome district, close to the Léon l’Africain primary school, which belongs to the same group.

What makes it special?

Applying Finnish pedagogy

The Finnish pedagogy has enabled this country to remain consistently at the top of the PISA rankings, whereas in the 1960s its school results were mediocre, with, in particular, a low number of pupils completing the secondary school curriculum.

Applying Finnish pedagogy in Morocco requires of course adaptations, but Loppsi has kept the essential elements:

• respecting the child’s personality
• offering activities and not imposing lessons: this is pedagogy through play
• stimulate them and allow them to concentrate on their activities by making short sessions interspersed with long breaks
• take many trips outside to vary the child’s environment
• integrating art, music, theatre
• learning to think and use the brain
• emphasis on languages, here Arabic, French and English (did you know that Finland has two national languages, Finnish and Suomi [Lappish] like Morocco?) are not ‘taught’ but used as languages of instruction
  to make the child feel happy at school, “like at home”, so that he/she can enjoy his/her childhood.

Will there be a Finnish primary school?

As a first step, Loppsi has opened a nursery school (where children are accepted as soon as they can walk) and a kindergarten, from the very youngest to the oldest section.

This nursery school is the first step. As the children grow up, Loppsi intends to open new classes to eventually offer a complete curriculum, up to the baccalaureate. The know-how of the parent company can reassure parents about this continuity (the success of Léon l’Africain is no longer in question).

How much does it cost to attend Loppsi?

Tuition fees are similar to those of other public schools.

To which must be added the costs of canteen (650 MAD), transport (850 MAD), after-school care (350 MAD), meals during after-school care (350 MAD), supplies (2,000 MAD, compulsory) and an outings + photos pack (800 MAD, compulsory).
