The good thing about Morocco is that things always change from one year to the next, and summer time is no different from the dates of moussems.
The first year that Morocco switched to summer time was 2008. The experiment was stopped a little earlier than planned, and in a hurry, because it was suddenly realised that the start of the month of Ramadan had been forgotten, and the decision to return to winter time was taken in a hurry, a week earlier.
In 2009, we started again, with a rather late start on 1 June. And again an ‘early’ end, with the start of Ramadan on 20 August… but a return to daylight saving time at the end of Ramadan (I hope you follow?).
This time, daylight saving time will begin on 2 May and end on 8 August 2010, around 3 days before the start of Ramadan 2010. However, there are no details yet as to whether the fast will resume after the end of the fast.
Stay tuned!
