Aqqa – ⴰⵇⵇⴰ – is the valley and, by extension, the river that flows through it, and Taqquat – ⵜⴰⵇⵇⴰⵜ – is the small valley, the narrow gorge in the mountains and, again by extension, the mountain torrent, the small stream that runs (or not, depending on the drought).

Assif – ⴰⵙⵉⴼ , it is the great river. The Assif can also be underground, like the Drâa, but when there is water, it is generous in size, like the Bou-Regreg between Rabat and Salé.
